Club News:

The Amputee Fishing Day on Lake Bastrop is planned for April 22th and will begin around 8:00am. We will finalize who plans to participate at the upcoming meeting. Non-riggers can help riggers so don’t hesitate to participate in a wonderful event. C.A.S.T. for Kids on Lake Bastrop is May 6th. If you haven’t signed up, it is not too late. Go to this webpage: http://castforkids.org/event/lakebastrop/ and sign up. It is fast and easy. More information will be shared at the upcoming meeting.

Last month there was a shortage of riggers who could fish the March tournament on Fayette County Reservoir so several non-riggers did not get to fish. As a result, Jim Pollard has proposed amending the club constitution to provide more guidelines regarding the process of pairing club members who want to participate in club tournaments. The proposed changes to the club constitution are shown in bold print.

IV.9- Teams will consist of two members selected at the monthly club meeting or paired by the Tournament Director. Add: Paring of members outside of the draw must receive “prior” approval from the Tournament Director or Club President.

Add: IV.9a When the number of riggers in the draw is less than the number of non-riggers, the Tournament Director will make every effort at the meeting to identify additional riggers. If he is unable to do so, excess non-riggers may find their own partner. For excess non-riggers, the Tournament Director will make every effort to assist the non-rigger(s) find a partner. Priority in the draw will be given to non-riggers attending the meeting. Those remaining, if any, will get first priority at the next monthly meeting. This will be recorded in the club meeting minutes.

IV.11  A club member may fish in a tournament with an invited guest or alone providing that no member of the club wishing to fish will be prevented from fishing. Add: (Such an arrangement must be cleared with the Tournament Director or Club President prior to the meeting. It is incumbent on this member to resolve the problem if this arrangement will prevent a member from fishing). The member/guest team must pay the team tournament entry fee.

Fishing Report:

The Couples Club fished Lake Bastrop on April 1st. Five couples participated and Rose and Steve Martinez won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 16.33 pounds. Rose caught the biggest fish of the tournament at 18.5” (3.44#). I went to Stillhouse Hollow like several other club members and the bite was fair early in the day. The Retiree Club will fish it next Thursday, April 13th.

Bring your fishing reports to share with everyone at the upcoming meeting. I hope to see all of you next Thursday evening at the club meeting.

Club News:

Get your fishing year started off right and don’t miss the January meeting or tournament. Next Saturday’s weather should be really nice for January.  Annual dues and other fees are due this month and I will provide the membership form so you can print a copy and bring it, along with your check or cash to the upcoming meeting.

The annual awards banquet is planned for February 11, 2017 at the Twin Oaks Ranch in Buda, Texas. This year the menu will be fajitas that will be provided by Pok-e-Jo’s Smokehouse and the cost will be $14.00 per member and includes your spouse or a guest.  The evening meal will be served around 6:00pm.  Because our annual banquet will occur before our February meeting, we will be attempting to get a head count at the January club meeting for the purpose of ordering the food.

Fishing Report:

The Retiree Club started off the new year by fishing Decker Lake and eleven teams participated. The weather was nice but the bite was slow for Decker Lake although some quality fish were caught.  Steve Martinez and Gary Burnham won the tournament with 8 fish weighing 20.85 pounds.  The biggest stringer was 4 fish weighing 15.44 pounds.  This is why we love to fish Decker Lake.  Bring your fishing reports to share with everyone at the upcoming meeting.
