Tournament Results:

We had 10 teams participate in the June tournament on Lake Travis. The fishing was pretty tough. Only 7 members weighed in a limit of fish. Dan Wessman and Dale White won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 20.84 pounds. Steve Moore and Tom White came in second place with 9 fish that weighed 18.72 pounds. Third place went to Mike Wiles and Jim Wessman who caught 6 fish weighing 17.33 pounds. Mike Wiles caught the biggest bass, 23” (6.50#) and Art Cruser had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 12.82 pounds.

July 2018 Meeting and Tournament:

Club News:

At the last club meeting, the club voted to have the travel tournament in November at Fayette County Reservoir. Steve Martinez wants to draw partners for the November travel tournament at the upcoming meeting this Thursday. If you can’t attend the club meeting this month, please let me or Steve know what days you will be pre-fishing for the travel tournament so you can be included in the draw.

Fishing Reports:

The results of the Retiree Club tournament on Lake Buchanan indicate the fishing was pretty tough. Two teams caught 7 fish and the winning team caught 5 fish that weighed 13.44#. Shenandoah Christian Bass Club fished Lake Travis last Saturday and the winning team caught 7 fish that weighed 13.5 pounds. The tournament ended at 10:00am and that is a great ending time due to the hot weather. Bring your fishing reports/pictures and share them at the upcoming meeting with everyone. Tournament Results:

We had 11 teams participate in the May tournament on Decker Lake. The fishing was pretty good for some and 13 members weighed in a limit of fish. Gene Franz and Dale Moore won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 32.85 pounds. Jim Pollard and Louis Weyand came in second place with 10 fish that weighed 31.08 pounds. Third place went to Dan Wessman and Gary Burnham who caught 10 fish weighing 25.16 pounds. Louis Weyand caught the biggest bass, 22.” (5.75#) and Dale Moore had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 17.52 pounds.

Club News:

Summer heat is here and things have slowed down. There are no special events on the calendar for the remainder of June or for July. We need to pick a date and lake for our Fall travel tournament. It will be here before you know it.

Couple Club:

The Couples Club fished its fourth tournament of the year on June 2nd at Decker Lake. Six teams participated and half of the teams had a pretty good results. Jim & Nita Pollard won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 16.31 pounds. The tournament results and current standings are shown below:

Tournament Results:

We had 12 teams participate in the April tournament on Fayette County Lake. The fishing was pretty good and 21 members weighed in a limit of fish. Art Cruser and Arturo Valenzuela won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 38.03 pounds. Jim Pollard and Tom Clark came in second place with 10 fish that weighed 33.17 pounds. Third place went to Steve Moore and Dave Ehrenfeld who caught 10 fish weighing 31.54 pounds. Brooks Griffith caught the biggest bass, 22.5” (6.06#) and Art Cruser had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 22.26 pounds.

Club News:

Don’t forget the Amputee Fishing Day is coming up next month on June 9th on Lake Bastrop. The C.A.S.T. for Kids event held on May 5th was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed beautiful weather and the fish were biting that morning. All the participants had a great time and enjoyed the fishing gear and the wonderful meals that were provided by many sponsors.

The date for the Roger Growden Heroes Night Out fishing day on Lake Travis will be October 13th. Put it on your calendar!

Fishing Reports:

I know the fishing is good everywhere right now. The Ned rig even works on Stillhouse Hollow (see picture below). Arturo sent me this picture of a 24.5” bass he caught with his Ned rig recently. Tournament Results:

We had 12 teams participate in the March tournament on Decker Lake. The fishing was pretty good although it was a windy day on the water.  Ken Haulotte and Dale White won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 26.42 pounds.  Louis Weyand and Dave Ehrenfeld came in second place with 9 fish that weighed 25.64 pounds.  Third place went to Jim Rumbo and Randy Cook who caught 9 fish weighing 24.34 pounds.  Darryl Smith caught the biggest bass, 23” (6.50#) and had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 21.52 pounds.

C.A.S.T. for Kids is planned for May 5th and riggers can go online to register as a boat captain. I encourage all of you to participate in a very organized and enjoyable event that benefits some very special kids. We will pair up non-riggers with participating riggers at the upcoming meeting.

Don’t miss fishing this month because it will probably be the best time of the year to go fishing.

Fishing Reports:

I have not seen the results of the recent Retiree Club tournament on Decker Lake, but I know Art Cruser and Gary Burnham won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 32.91 pounds and Gary caught the biggest bass that weighed 8.50 pounds (See picture below). Although it was super windy last Saturday and the bite was tough, I caught a 6.50 pound bass at Lake Travis. I think the fish are biting everywhere right now so plan to catch a big one.   I will see you at the meeting Thursday evening.

We had 12 teams participate in the February tournament on Lake Bastrop. The fishing was pretty good as 21 members caught a limit of fish. Steve Moore and Dale Moore won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 27.48 pounds. Steve Martinez and Corey Reyna came in second place with 10 fish that weighed 22.23 pounds. Third place went to Carlton Yarbrough and Gib Hoffman who caught 10 fish weighing 21.10 pounds. Dale Moore had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 14.83 pounds.

Tournament Results:

We had 13 teams participate in the January tournament on Lake Travis. The fishing was tough for most teams. Dan Wessman and Jim Wessman won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 15.13 pounds. Steve Moore and Gib Hoffman came in second place with 9 fish that weighed 14.08 pounds. Third place went to Carlton Yarbrough and Tim Jolly who caught 8 fish weighing 12.64 pounds. Dan Wessman had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 15.13 pounds and he also had the biggest bass of the tournament. He caught a 24.5” bass weighing 8.00 pounds.

Steve Martinez plans to discuss several items from the club survey starting this month and he will continue the process during future club meetings. He is planning on discussing two topics this month. They are the number of tournaments that should be counted to determine the final club standings and the method that should be used to share expenses related to club tournaments. In addition, Steve would also like to determine what month the club would like to have the travel tournament so we can begin planning for it. Be prepared to discuss and provide your input regarding these topics.

Tournament Results:

We had 12 teams participate in the December tournament on Fayette County Reservoir and 21 members caught a limit of fish. It was a beautiful day to be on the water and the fish were biting. Jim Pollard and Ken Haulotte won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 37.34 pounds. Gene Franz and Gary Burnham came in second place with 10 fish that weighed 26.53 pounds. Third place went to Darryl Smith and Gib Hoffman who caught 10 fish weighing 25.28 pounds. Ken Haulotte had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 20.08 pounds and Ken and Tom White tied for big bass of the tournament. They both caught a 21.5” bass weighing 5.38 pounds.

Dan Wessman caught the Biggest Bass of the 4th Quarter on December 22, 2017, on Lake Buchanan. His big bass was 26” long. What a great catch for Lake Buchanan!

January 2018 Meeting and Tournament:

Our January meeting will be on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00pm at Pok-e-Jo’s Smokehouse on Parmer Lane. Our January tournament will be on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Don’t miss the first meeting of the year and the weather forecast for Saturday indicates it will be a great day to be on the water.

Club News:

I only have several reminders for you as we start the new year. Dues and other fees are due this month. Please use the membership form that I sent out as an attachment yesterday to document what you are paying for and to provide updated contact information for the club roster.

Consider when and where you would like to have a travel tournament this year. If we pursue a Spring travel tournament, plans need to begin soon to ensure we can get lodging for the date we choose.

Tournament Results:

We had 12 teams participate in the October tournament on Lake Bastrop and 15 members caught a limit of fish. Steve Moore and Jim Wessman won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 22.90 pounds. Darryl Smith and Arturo Valenzuela came in second place with 7 fish that weighed 19.90 pounds. Third place went to Mike Wiles and Dale White who caught 10 fish weighing 18.77 pounds. Darryl Smith had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 12.96 pounds and Jim Wessman caught the biggest bass. It was 22” long and weighed 5.75 pounds. In November, 12 teams participated in the November travel tournament to Fayette County Reservoir and 15 members caught a limit of fish. Carlton Yarbrough and Louis Weyand won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 27.65 pounds. Darryl Smith and Dave Ehrenfeld came in second place with 10 fish weighing 26.58 pounds. Jim Pollard and Tim Jolly finished third with 9 fish weighing 24.78 pounds. Darryl Smith had the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 15.77 pounds and he also caught the biggest bass. It was 21.5” long and weighed 5.38 pounds.

Club News:

This month we will vote on the proposed slate of officers for 2018 which currently is as follows: President, Steve Martinez, Vice-President, Mitch Shelton, Secretary, Darryl Smith, and Treasurer, Carlton Yarbrough. The proposed directors are: Jim Pollard (past president), Brian Kitchen, Brooks Griffith, Gib Hoffman, Don Haluzan (Retiree Club) and the Couples Club will select a director.

We will also conduct a secret ballot to determine the member deserving of the Al Lykins Sportsmanship Award.

Don’t forget to bring your completed survey so your input can be included in the results that will be shared with the club at the January meeting. If you cannot make the meeting, Jim Pollard welcomes your response via email or snail mail.

 

Couples Club Results for 2017:

The Couples Club has concluded their year by fishing Lake Travis on November 4th and Steve Moore and Andrea won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 11.08 pounds. The final results are as follows:
