Hello Everyone,

The newsletter is attached.  I’ve kept it short but it reminds everyone of the upcoming banquet and our first meeting of the new year is next Thursday, January 18th.  I’ll see you all at the upcoming meeting.  I’ll have some extra membership forms if you forget to print and complete the one I’ve included in the newsletter.

Let me know if you have any questions.

December Tournament Overview:

Our December tournament on Lake Bastrop was tough for some members including me (I got skunked). Only six of 24 members fishing the tournament caught a limit of five fish. The heaviest stringer of 5 fish (18.02 pounds) was caught by Tom Clark. Art Cruser caught the big bass of the tournament, a 22” (5.75 pound) bass.

Final Top Ten Standings for 2006:

Al Lykins- 119.28 pounds
Mike Wiles- 115.78 pounds
Tom Clark- 114.98 pounds
Carlton Yarbrough- 114.42 pounds
Craig Mooney- 113.16 pounds
Art Cruser- 106.28 pounds
Jim Pollard- 102.16 pounds
Dale White- 91.74 pounds
Gib Hoffman- 82.93 pounds
Vince Martin- 81.78 pounds

Tom Morelock and Mike Wiles tied for Big Bass of the 4th Quarter. Each one caught a 23.5” bass (7.00 pounds) while fishing at Choke Canyon in conjunction with our October travel tournament.

January 2007 Meeting and Tournament:

Our next club meeting will be Thursday, January 18th, at 7:00 pm. Our January tournament will be on Saturday, January 20, 2007. Darryl Smith and John Kirkland have volunteered to bring refreshments to the next meeting.

At Our Upcoming Meeting:

A new year is starting and annual dues are due. A membership form is included (next page) that you can print out, complete, and bring to the next meeting. We will be collecting annual dues, TABC membership fees, and annual banquet money.

Annual Banquet:

Our annual banquet will be on January 27, 2007, at 7:00p.m. at the Great Hills Baptist Church, which is located at 10500 Jollyville Road (near intersection with Braker Lane). We will be having fajitas, including dessert, from Pokey Jo’s and the cost is only $10.00 per couple. Stephan Magnelia will be our guest speaker. He is a district fisheries biologist with TPWD. Mark your calendars and plan on a great evening of fellowship as we recognize the many members who excelled last year.

Fishing Report:

Cold weather is here. Don’t forget to pack your spare warm clothing in the event you accidentally get soaking wet. It could save the day and your life! Fishing has been good on Lake Bastrop from the fishing reports that have been shared with me. Lake Travis has been good although the fish tend to be small, 12 to 13 inches. It’s winter time and the weather plays an important role in fishing. Let’s pray for nicer weather next Saturday. Bring a friend to the upcoming meeting and I will see you all there.

Boat For Sale:

Art Cruser asked me to put this in the newsletter. He is selling his old boat now that he has a new Ranger. It is a 1986 Cajun Pursuit Fish and Ski with a 1986 Johnson motor. All depth finders and the trolling motor are included. The motor was completely rebuilt with a new block two years ago. The hull of the boat is Kevlar and is practically indestructible. The trailer has new tires and new hubs. Asking price is $2,500.00. If interested, call Art at 258-0496 or 589-5589 (cell).
