Hello Everyone,

I have the April newsletter attached.  I hope you enjoy it.  Please remember Roger Growden in your prayers because he is still in the Seton North Austin Medical Center on Mopac near Parmer Lane.  He can have visitors but he is in ICU due to complications.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with the attached file and I’ll see you next week at the club meeting.

March Tournament Overviews:

Our March 17th tournament at Fayette County Lake had 17 teams participating. The day was sunny, a little windy, but the fishing was pretty good for most teams. Five teams caught a limit of 10 fish. Harold Barnett and Gib Hoffman took first place with 37.85 pounds. Bob Duda and Tom Clark took second place with 31.73 pounds. Jim Pollard and Gary Schriber took third place with 30.77 pounds. The biggest stringer was caught by Gib Hoffman (21.64 pounds) and Roger Growden caught the biggest bass (24”- 7.50 pounds). One of the highlights of the day was the catered BBQ lunch on the lawn of Brian Kitchen’s grandmother’s house in Fayetteville after the tournament. The January makeup tournament was held on March 31st at Lake Travis. Heavy rains prior to the tournament had raised the lake level over 10’ and fishing was tougher than expected. Fifteen teams participated, but only one team brought in a limit of 10 fish. The biggest stringer was caught by Tom Morelock (13.77 pounds) and he also caught the biggest bass of the tournament (21”- 5.00 pounds).

Top Ten Standings for 2007:

Mike Wiles- 39.81 pounds Gib Hoffman- 34.59 pounds

Tom Clark- 38.98 pounds Chris Tippett- 29.29 pounds

Tom Morelock- 38.85 pounds Stan Evans- 27.59 pounds

Jim Pollard- 36.29 pounds Al Lykins- 26.11 pounds

Vince Martin- 34.71 pounds Art Cruser- 25.96 pounds

Roger Growden won Big Bass of the 1st Quarter with the 24” bass he caught during the Fayette County tournament in February.

April Meeting and Tournament:

Our next club meeting will be Thursday, April 19th, at 7:00 pm. Our April tournament will be on Saturday, April 21, 2007. Mitch Shelton and Stan Evans have volunteered to bring refreshments to the next meeting.

The 100 Club of Central Texas 3rd Annual Bass Tournament:

This absolutely fun tournament will be held on Lake Travis on Saturday, April 28th. Cost: $130.00 per two person team. Top 7 stringers will win cash ($2,000.00 for 1st place) and the biggest bass pays $500.00. This tournament gets better every year. Every participant gets a T-Shirt and a door prize, many of which are really expensive prizes. Coffee/pastries are available before the 6:30am starting time and every participant gets to enjoy a catered lunch during weigh-in. The tournament is held at the Jones Brothers Park in Jonestown and the proceeds support a very worthwhile cause. The entry deadline is April 20, 2007. You can call 512-345-3200 to enter.

Travel Tournament:

The club voted to go to Lake Amistad the second weekend in October of this year for the travel tournament. The October tournament date is Saturday, October 13th. We have 15 rooms reserved at The Anglers Lodge for the night of October 12th, and ten rooms are reserved for the nights of October 11th and 13th (Thursday night and Saturday night). Riggers who know what nights they will need a room should call Dianne Wengenroth and confirm a reservation. The telephone number for The Anglers Lodge is 830-775-1586. Room rates will be $44.52 per night for 1 person, $57.77 per night for 2 persons, and $63.07 per night for 3 persons. Prices include taxes.

Fishing Report:

Heavy rains, rising lake levels, and freezing weather on Easter weekend! Who can predict what the fish will be doing? Bring a fishing report with you to the next meeting and maybe we will get lucky this month and pick a lake where the fish are biting. I know members have fished on Lake Austin, Decker Lake, Choke Canyon, and I’m sure others. See you all at the next meeting.
