Tournament Overview:

The November tournament on Lake Bastrop was tough for most participants because of the windy conditions and the slow bite.  Only one team caught a limit of 10 fish and only 7 of the 20 participants caught a limit of 5 fish.  Jim Pollard and Gib Hoffman won the tournament with 18.89 pounds.  Mitch Shelton and Gary Schriber came in second place with 16.08 pounds.  Third place went to Vince Martin and Tim Jolly with 14.58 pounds.  The biggest bass (22.5") was caught by Mitch Shelton and he also had the biggest 5 fish stringer at 16.08 pounds.

Jim Pollard currently has the lead for Big Bass of the 4th Quarter.  He caught a 26" (9.63 pound) bass at Lake Austin on 11/8/08 while fishing with his nephew.

December Meeting and Tournament:

Our next meeting will be Thursday, December 4th, at 7:00pm.  Our December tournament will be Saturday, December 6th, 2008.  Art Cruser and Roberto Ruiz have volunteered to bring refreshments to our next club meeting.  At the upcoming meeting, we will vote on the officers/directors for 2009, conduct a secret ballot for the member who should receive the Johnny Mayes Sportmanship Award, discuss the 2009 calendar, and plan a date for our annual awards banquet.

Fishing News:

I’ve heard several fishing reports for Fayette County and Decker Lake.  Fish are being caught at both lakes.  Mike Wiles and Dale White had a great trip to Fayette County where they left them biting and lost count of the number of fish they caught.  I think Al Lykins and T.V. Minner can fill us in on their success, since they have fished both of these lakes recently.  I hope to see all of you at the next meeting.
