March Meeting and Tournament:
Our March meeting will be Thursday, March 19th, at 7:00pm. Our March tournament will be Saturday, March 21st, 2009. I’ll be sending out an email for volunteers to bring refreshments to this meeting.
Spring Garage Sale:
It’s that time of the year again when we have a club garage sale to raise funds to help support club activities like the Amputee Fishing trip and our annual banquet. We will discuss this more at the club meeting, but you can always help by donating items that you no longer want or need. Our garage sale is usually held in April or May at Brian Kitchen’s home.
Fishing Reports:
I haven’t heard any really great fishing reports from club members recently. I know Travis has been slow because the water temperature has been below 60 degrees until just recently. This is keeping the fish in deeper water. If you know where to find them, big fish can be caught on Lake Austin based upon last Wednesday night’s tournament on Lake Austin where the winning 5 fish stringer was around 28 pounds. During the last cold spell they were generating at Decker Lake and some nice fish were caught near the hot water outlet including one over 7 pounds. As the weather continues to improve and the water temperature increases, the fishing should get better. I’m looking forward to it. The two pictures below are of Craig Mooney and Gary Burnham. These big girls were caught at Choke Canyon Lake.
25.5″ (9.06#) caught 3/17/09 by Gary Burnham
10+ and 7 pounder caught 2/13/09 caught by Craig Mooney
See you at the next club meeting!
