Tournament Results:

Our May tournament was held at Decker Lake.  The bite seemed a little slow and the strong winds that blew for most of the tournament were a big factor, but the results indicate that many fish were caught.  Eighteen of the 24 participants caught a limit of fish.  Jim Pollard and Bill Bratton won the tournament with 10 fish weighing 27.67 pounds.  Vince Martin and Dave Ehrenfeld came in second place with 10 fish weighing 26.67 pounds.  Third place went to Al Lykins and Clancy Wiseman who weighed in 10 fish totaling 25.90 pounds.  Jim Pollard caught the biggest 5 fish stringer weighing 16.77 pounds and the biggest bass (24” or 7.50#).

2013 Standings :

Vince Martin- 73.18 pounds                                        Clancy Wiseman- 50.43 pounds

Jim Pollard- 58.51 pounds                                             Roger Growden- 48.83 pounds

Mike Wiles- 56.05 pounds                                            Dennis Worley- 48.31 pounds

Brooks Griffith- 55.70 pounds                                     Mitch Shelton- 47.50 pounds

Art Cruser- 55.18 pounds                                              Darryl Smith- 45.06 pounds

Jim Pollard currently has the lead for Big Bass of the 2nd Qtr. with the 7.50# bass he caught during the May tournament at Decker Lake.

June Meeting and Tournament:

Our June meeting will be this Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00pm.  Our June tournament will be on Saturday, June 15, 2013.  This month’s club meeting will be on the 3rd floor of the Education Bldg. which is located on the opposite side of the gym from the room where we previously held our meeting.  This will be the room we will use in the future.

Club News:

Due to the room change, we will begin to have refreshments again at the meeting.  The room we are now meeting in does not have carpet on the floor and there is an area where refreshments can be served.  We will be responsible for removing any trash so we don’t attract pests into the room.  In addition, there is plenty of parking outside the building so this will be an improvement.  Mitch Shelton and Art Cruser volunteered to bring refreshments this month.

As you can see, the fishing was tough on Stillhouse Hollow due to the wind.  The fish that were caught were small.  The Couples Club will resume tournaments for the Fall on October 5th when they fish Lake Austin.

Fishing Report:

I know it is getting hot, but the fish are still biting at certain times of the day.  Last Friday, Gary Burnham and Steve Martinez got into some schooling action at Decker Lake and they caught over 20 fish in a short period of time before they left at 11:00am.  Bring your fishing report to the meeting and I hope to see you there.
